ATTENTION TO THE PEOPLE OF FAIRMONT, MINNESOTA:
How cool would it be to drive a car with the same name as the place where you live—or where you commute to, or travel through? Maybe you were just born there, or you’re the mayor. Whatever!
Before getting into the details, I must first tell you that this car is not actually in Fairmont, MN—but I can take it there!!
My sister is due for a second baby toward the end of this year, and I’ll be visiting her after her child is born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. It’s only 2 hours from Fairmont, and we can even discuss meeting halfway or all the way to Fairmont (price may go up some to compensate for the extra traveling).
I’m looking for serious buyers only, ’cause I’ll seriously take the car on the 600 mile plus long haul for you. (I live in Harrison, Arkansas, and my parents are going north at the same time too, so they’ll be my ride back home.)
If taking the car on a 9-hour road trip makes a good impression, here’s the rest of the ad…
This 1980 Ford Fairmont with a 255 CI (4.2 L) V8 engine and a three-speed automatic transmission is perfect for your grandma or anyone who likes clean, spacious, four-door sedans with all the necessary amenities (like A/C) for twenty-first century automobile-traveling pleasure.
Most of the car’s exterior is factory original from 1980. In fact, the entire car—inside and out—has only seen less than 60 thousand miles. You’d be hard-pressed to find any dings on the chrome moldings.
And just look at how well the paint has withstood time! NOS (new old stock) hub caps (the same style as the original) have been installed recently. You even get extra lug nuts, two extra hub caps, and a car cover when you buy this Fairmont.
Five can be seated inside. The heat and windshield defrost function well, and the fully-charged A/C will keep you cool in the warmer seasons. Cigarette lighter and USB charging ports are currently placed where the radio goes (I still have the original radio).
I have an aftermarket radio that was installed when I bought the car, if you would like to install it again. The car also has aftermarket speakers.
The all-season tires have a good amount of tread left. You also get a spare that’s under the carpet in the spacious trunk. This spare is practically a replacement wheel and tire (it’s even white-wall), not some temporary donut.
Under my ownership this car has received regular oil changes. Some normal-wear parts have been replaced over time, such as radiator hoses, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, brake pads, and carburetor air cleaners. (Parts are easy to get for this automobile.)
There’s basically no leaks or smoking of any kind. In less than three years it has gone over 15 thousand miles, sometimes over 125 miles in one day. It can climb steep hills on the highway while going the speed limit.
Although the car is already in excellent working condition, some buyers may want to turn this into a drag or high-performance project.
The Ford Fairmont (and counterpart Mercury Zephyr) was the first to use the Fox body platform, the same platform that the Mustang used.
(So if you do turn this into a sleeper, put your grandma in it at your own risk.)
To sum up, you’ll get a very dependable, unique car with lots of oomph left in it. The price reflects that. I’m selling the Fairmont because I do not need it. But you might. (I also have a front license plate holder for the front bumper if you need it.)
Remember, CASH ONLY!
If I meet in Sioux Falls, SD, the price is $3500 FIRM!
