I just purchased this 1979 Ford Fairmont. I’m offering it for sale before I start doing any improvements. Price will go up as I work on it. If you were a child of the 70’s or 80’s, you will appreciate this car!
It is built on the fox body platform. It has a small block ford with a rumpety cam, roller rockers, headers, 750 Holley 4 barrel with vac secondaries and electric choke. I was told it could be a stroker motor (347 or 331) but I can’t verify as the original builder has passed away. I adjusted the carb a little, and it starts easy and takes the gas well! Seems very strong! I haven’t taken it down the road yet. It does have a c4 automatic trans with shift kit and was told a boss hog converter with 2500 stall, but I can’t verify that either. The rear end is a 8.8 ford with 4.10 posi. It has a power rack and pinion front end with new rotors and brakes.
It is currently running on the original tank with an electric pump. I have a brand new aluminum fuel cell that could be bought with. The car still has the full original black interior and seat belts and dash. Does have aftermarket working gauges. Holds good oil pressure and temp. I installed a nice set of 4 lug weld drag lights with new Mickey Thompson ET Street 275/50 15 drag radials on rear, the fronts are the 15 x 4 front runners on 4 lug weld wheels. The front tires will need replaced at some point.
Most of the car is in hot rod rattle can black primer. Still needs some tlc. Has a little rust around rear wheel openings, but rest of body appears straight and rust free. The motor is dirty and oily but runs strong. This is a project car but would take very little to get on the street or would make an awesome light weight drag car or street sleeper! It does have a good title.
Call or text with questions. Asking $2750 with the welds, or $2250 without. If you want it without the wheels, then bring your own set. They are 4 lug. Thanks for looking and God bless!
